Ringling – Funeral Services for Mrs. Colleen (Lance) Grant is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ Gospel Tabernacle with her son, Terry Grant and grandson, Lee Grant officiating. Interment will follow to Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
Colleen was born on April 25, 1930 in Petersburg, OK to the late Mr. Virgil T. Lance and Mrs. Artie May (Shockley) Lance. She departed this life Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at her residence in Ringling at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
Colleen married Sammie Fayne McGowan and together they had two children Connie and Lanie. He preceded her in death at a young age and she then married Marvin T. Grant. From this union their son Terry was born. Marvin and Colleen made their home in Ringling where they would raise their family.
Colleen worked beside Marvin doing the accounting and keeping the shop records. She was an excellent homemaker and loving mother. She was a fantastic cook, who was known for her southern cooked meals with fresh vegetables she grew in her garden. Colleen loved teaching other women how to cook and was always a great example to others. Colleen and Marvin enjoyed spending time at Lake Texoma and fishing.
Mrs. Grant was a devout Christian and faithful member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Ringling all of her life. She led praise and worship for many years. She enjoyed playing her guitar and singing.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Sammie McGowan in 1953 and Marvin Grant in 1998; sisters, Joyce Lance, Marie Price, Peggy Beyer, and Patsy Watkins.
Survivors include her daughter, Connie Blankenship of Ardmore; sons, Lanie McGowan of Ringling, Terry Grant and wife Jaree of Ardmore; sisters, Dixie Linn of Oklahoma City, OK and Dorothy Ledford of Chickasha; a special friend, Summer Skinner of Ringling; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Dale Riley, Dale Richardson, Charlie Burk, Dewayne McCarty, Cody Hudspeth,and Lafon Glenn.
Honorary Casket bearers will be all the Coffee Drinking Friends at Moore Drug.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home in Ringling.
