Lone Grove – Funeral Services for Mr. Clyde Lewis Copley, Jr., 67, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Royce McClendon and Rev. Devlon Ford officiating. Interment will follow at Newport Cemetery north of Lone Grove. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Clyde was born August 20, 1943 at Tuttle, OK to the late Mr. Clyde Lewis Copley, Sr. and Mrs. Bertha C. (Buckholtz) Copley. He departed this life Friday, December 31, 2010 at Ardmore, OK.
Clyde was raised primarily in this area helping his father run the family business, Copley’s Meat Processing, near Jay Norman Rd. in Ardmore. He attended school at Plainview and graduated from High School there in 1962. He married the former Ms. Sandra Kay Burk September 12, 1963 at Ardmore. When they closed the meat processing plant, Clyde worked for 10 years at Max’s wholesale near Caddo St. in Ardmore before opening his own grocery retail business in Lone Grove. He and his wife own and operated Clyde’s Grocery in Lone Grove for 10 years. He also was always a Cattleman and Rancher and had most recently custom baled hay for hire. He was a member of the Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church.
Preceding him in Death are his Parents, Brothers, Harold Thompson and Raymond Copley and a sister, Mary Duncan.
Survivors include his loving wife Sandra of the home, Son, David Copley of Ardmore, Granddaughter, Kristen Copley of Ardmore, Sisters, Benetta Taylor of Broken Arrow, Brother, Gene Copley of Knoxville, TN. Numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Pallbearers are Royce Van Buskirk, Bill George, John Smith, Danny Godfrey, Wayne Strader, Dave Blundell, Charlie Taliaferro, and Mickey Davis.
Honorary Bearers are Mike Burk, Bobby Townley, Dallas Copley, Jarvis Hunt, Steve Taliaferro, Riley Ford, Jim Taliaferro, Dalton Ford, Dennis Butler, Fred Taliaferro and J.D. Dunn.
