Clarence “Murl” Weeks was born April 12, 1941, in Hoxie, Kansas, to the late Mr. Clarence Weeks and Mrs. Pearl (Godfrey) Weeks. He departed from this life Thursday, March 23, 2023, at his home in Duncan.
Murl grew up in Hoxie, KS, where he attended school and later served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. When he was discharged from the Army he worked as a mechanic, opening his own gas station back in his hometown for many years. Murl made his home in Duncan about eight years ago. He loved spending time with family as he cherished his relationships with them. Murl enjoyed his quality time with his friends and family reminiscing and telling stories as it gave him much joy. Music was a huge part of his life. Murl was a self taught musician and had a gift of the ability to play, on the guitar, any song he heard. His gratification came from being a host and entertaining others. Murl would do anything for other people. Although he faced many challenges in life, Murl found courage and strength through his difficulties.
Murl is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jody Thornburg; brothers, William “Bill” Weeks and Albert “Al” Weeks; sisters, Violet Rodgers, Margie Thayden, Alice Pratt, and Nellie Weeks.
