Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Chester Lloyd Fitzsimmons, 91, of Wilson are schedule for 2:00 PM Wed. Nov. 17, 2010 at The Rexroat Baptist Church with Rev. Monte Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Chester was born February 4, 1919 at Wilson to the late Mr. Samuel Hawkins Fitzsimmons and Mrs. Beulah Bessie (McMillen) Fitzsimmons. He passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at the Wilson Nursing Center.
Chester was a resident of this area all of his life raised south of Wilson attending school at Bryan Red. He married the former Ms. Betty Jo Ashley April 3, 1942 at Ringling, OK. He was employed by the government in the CCC creation project of the Lake Murray State Park before joining the United States Army. During the service, Chester served honorably in WWII overseas in the Philippines as part of the Armored Tank Division. When he was honorably discharged he returned to this area and began working in construction and later became a welder and machinist at G&G machine shop in Healdton and after was employed at Galoob Machine Shop and Brady’s Oilfield Service of Healdton from where he retired due to health problems in early 70’s. During his retirement Chester enjoyed constructing crafts, woodworking and gardening. Chester was a member of the Rexroat Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death is his Parents, Wife, Betty – Nov. 14, 2005, Daughter, Joyce Hulsey, Brothers Elmer and Lavoy, and sister Lila Lee.
Survivors include his son Barry Fitzsimmons and wife Shirley of Moore. Brother Orval Fitzsimmons of Wilson. 4 Grandchildren, Kenneth Fitzsimmons and wife Audrey of Oklahoma City, Brian Fitzsimmons and wife Titi of Oklahoma City, Michael Bailey of Oklahoma City and Keith Bailey and wife Julie of Kentucky. 6 Great Grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Gabrielle, Ceara, Shelby and Taylor.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Fitzsimmons, Brian Fitzsimmons, Michael Bailey, Randy Hacker, Johnny Meloy, and Jack Brown.
Honorary Bearers are Jerry Allen, Charlie Steele and Roscoe Gunter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the all the staff of the Wilson Nursing Center for their care and support.
