Cheryl Kay Culwell

Davis - Funeral Service for Cheryl Kay Culwell, 60 are scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, OK. Interment will follow at the Simon Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Cheryl was born on March 17, 1957 in Simon, OK to the late Mr. Thomas Monroe "Sonny" Culwell and Mrs. Joyce Romines. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore, OK.

Cheryl was raised south of Wilson residing at Simon. She attended school at Turner graduating with the Turner class of 1975. After graduating high school she attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo for two years then attended ECU where she received her Bachelors in Elementary Education. In 1979 she gained employment with Davis Public Schools and was an elementary teacher there until 2009. She spent every summer working the concession stand at Turner Falls. After retiring from her teaching career she worked at Hilltop Veterinarian Hospital in Davis and at the Sulphur Wal-Mart Pharmacy. Cheryl loved going to music concerts and shopping. She also enjoyed her dogs and eating at Santa Fe Steak House in Ardmore.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Sonny and Joyce; grandparents, Curly and Altha Culwell, and Charles and Lemmie Romines.

Cheryl is survived by her sister Janette Carlile and husband Aaron of Simon; Neices, Brandi Carlile and spouse Danyelle of Simon and Lori Mai of Marietta; Best friend, Karen Morris of Davis; her canine companion, Tinker Bell; Great Nieces, Kaylyn Barbour and Tyler Mai of Marietta; Numerous cousins and a host of other family members.

Casket bearers will be Terry Hix, Jerry Hix, Pete Carlile, Danny Morris, Curtiss Nipp, and Finley Morgan.

Honorary casket bearers will be Jackie Sexton, Keith Smith, Garth Smith, Don Culwell and all past students and co-educators of Davis Public Schools.

A family visitation is scheduled for Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
