Charlsia Mae Stroud

Ringling – Funeral Services for Mrs. Charlsia Mae “Choc” Stroud, 77, of Ringling are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday September 15, 2011 at the Ringling United Methodist Church with Rev. Alex Costea officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.


Chock was born August 12, 1934 at Claypool to the late Mr. Ernest Preston Dickey and Mrs. Naoma Lucille (Grace) Dickey. She departed this life Monday, September 12, 2011 at Ardmore.


Chock was raised in Claypool growing up on the Claypool farm. She graduated from Claypool in 1952 where she excelled in Basketball and academics as class valedictorian. She graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in May of 1955. She married her high school sweetheart on June 11, 1955 and soon began her teaching career at Ringling that following August. She continued to teach 2nd grade for 37 years at Ringling Public Schools. She was the treasure of the Ringling Methodist Church for over 25 years and was also very active in vacation Bible School and the Kids Club of the Ringling Methodist Church


Preceding her in death is her Parents, Ernest and Naoma(Grace) Dickey; Twin Sisters, Lavelle Duncan and Sevelle Overstreet; Brother, and wife, Doyal and Betty Jane Dickey; Mother and Father In Law, Floyd and Hattie Stroud; Sister in law and husband Mae and Pete Wright.


Survivors include her husband Bill of the Home; Daughter, Becky Saville and husband John of Velma, Son, Chris Stroud and wife Polly of Ringling, and Daughter Penny Vasquez and husband Richard of Bridge Creek, OK; 6 Grandchildren, Tammy Mitchell and husband Greg of Ada, Nici Hinkel and husband Zac of Houston, Wesley Stroud and wife Leaha of Ringling, Myles Stroud of Ringling, Preston Vasquez of Bridge Creek, OK and Bailey Vasquez also of Bridge Creek, OK; Sister Margaret Headrick of Comanche, Brother and Sister in law Wayne and Pat Dickey of Tulsa; Numerous other family and friends.


Pallbearers are Wes Stroud, Myles Stroud, Preston Vasquez, Greg Mitchell, Gary Bracken, and Miguel Renteria.


Honorary Bearers will be Harry Goodman, Jerry Hill, Keith Albin, and Kenny Bachand.


Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
