Charles Lynn Battles

Wilson- Funeral services for Charles Lynn Battles,79, will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. Jason Langley officiating assisted by Rev. Tyler Shores. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Charles Lynn Battles was born March 3, 1936 at Hewitt to the late Mr. Walter Hubbard Battles and Mrs.

Claudia (Lindsay) Battles. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home in Wilson.

Charlie was born at Hewitt and was raised attending school at Wilson graduating from High School there in 1954. He married the former Della Whiteman on June 30, 1960 at Wilson First Baptist Church and to this union they were blessed with 3 children; Tammy, Danny, and Clay. Charlie worked as a mechanic starting out in the Battles Garage in Wilson. He served honorably for 6 years in the Army National Guard. He retired from Texaco Oil Company but held several occupations from carpenter, mechanic, inventor, community service volunteer, and truck driver. He held patents on inventions and was also a talented musician. Charlie loved traveling, enjoying airplanes and going to Air Shows. Charlie delivered meals on wheels for many years in the community of Wilson.

Preceding him in death were his Parents; brother, Dennis Battles; 2 sisters, Nadine Shearing and Mava Fisher, and a grandson, Chris Battles.

Survivors include the mother of their children and caretaker, Della; daughter, Tammy Battles of Wilson; 2 sons, Danny Battles and wife Bobbi of Burns Flatt and Clay Battles of Wilson; 2 sisters, Ginger Spencer and husband Jerry of Durant and Vickie Powell and husband Dale of Springer; 2 brothers, Bob Battles and wife Jeanne of Cleburn, TX and Norman Battles of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Colby, Britney, Colt, Brooke, Connar, and Daniel; 4 great grandchildren, Addison, Ayden, Jerzie, and Tripp; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be Colt Battles, Josh Mitchell, Daniel Battles, Carey Powell, Chris Battles, and Norman

Spencer.

Honorary Bearers are Tripp Mitchell, Terry Cain, Kenny Wright, Mike Skelton, Eric Gaines, and Richard

Delano.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8PM at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice.
