Mr. Charles E. Richard departed this life at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 5 days on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Ardmore, OK. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. June 2, 2021 at the Hewitt Cemetery Pavilion in Wilson with Bro. Jim McGaughy officiating.
Charles was born to the late Mr. Francis Curin Richard and Mrs. Anita Mae (Elliott) Willoughby in Oklahoma City, OK on November 21, 1948.
He was raised in Oklahoma City, Ok and attended school there. Charles continued his education at Murray State College. He worked as a truck driver and at a commercial laundry. Charles moved to Wilson in 1975 and went to work in the oilfield, mainly as a truck driver. He then went to work for the City of Wilson for the next 21 years and 4 months until his retirement. He was a dispatcher, a supervisor for the Dept. of Corrections and a reserve officer for a short time. Charles loved spending time with his grand kids taking them fishing and hunting. He attended the First Baptist Church of Wilson.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents F.C. and Cathy Richard; Anita and David Willoughby; Brother, Joe Wayne Richard; granddaughter, Jessa Burkhart and daughter in law JaNae Burkhart
He is survived by his wife Shirley (Knight) Richard of the home, daughters, Anita Ruth Richard and partner Mike; Christina (Tina) J. Newby and husband David Newby both of Wilson; Sons, John Charles Burkhart, Wichita, KS, James Courtney Burkhart of Midwest City; Grandchildren Chris Richard & wife Kristin, Christian Byrd, Logan Newby and wife Madison, Stanley Newby and fiance Kendall O'Steen, Jacob Newby all of Wilson, Jarod Mixon, Jaedyn Burkhart, Jack Buckhart, of Wichita, Kansas, Sister Bettye Jean Willoughby, of Oklahoma City and great-grand children, Morgan, Davah, Ryker, Lilly and Samantha.
Serving as casket bearers will be Chris Richard, Logan Newby, Stanley Newby, Jacob Newby, David Newby and Mike Burgess.
Honorary bearers will be Charles Willoughby, David Richard, Wyatt Williams, Elvin Hines, and Frank Schaaf.
