Ratliff City – Mrs. Charlene M. (Cantrell) Airington, age 72, of Ratliff City, departed this life on Monday, October 14, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Ratliff City with Rev. Mike Johnston and Rev. Glynn Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the New Velma Cemetery in Velma, OK. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
Charlene was born to Mr. Morris Everett Cantrell and Mrs. Charlcia Mae (Chitwood) Cantrell on November 9, 1946 in Wichita Falls, TX.
She attended school at Fox and Burkburnett, graduating from Burkburnett High School with the class of 1965. Charlene and Haskell D. Airington were united in marriage on June 23, 1979 in Graham, OK. Together they made their home in the Ratliff City area where they raised their two children, Misty and Steven. She loved riding horses, going to play days and racing barrels. In 1978 she ran for Ardmore Rodeo Queen at the Hardy Murphy Coliseum. Charlene was a member of the Healdton Riding Club, a band booster at Velma Schools, Girl Scout leader, JOM Committee member and had previously driven the school bus at Velma. Charlene worked as a licensed insurance agent for over 40 years. She had previously owned her own agency in Healdton and at one time worked for the Kissinger agency, Rudy White and most recently the Insurance Place Agency in Ringling for many years. Charlene loved her family especially her
children and grandchildren. Charlene was of the Christian faith and was a member of the First
Baptist Church in Velma.
She is preceded in death by her father Morris Everett Cantrell and father and mother in law; B.H. Airington and Ethel Eva Airington.
She is survived by her husband, Haskell Airington of the home; mother, Charlcia Cantrell of Duncan; daughter, Misty Mathews and husband Chris of Ratliff City; son, Steven Airington and wife Carolyn of Velma; grandchildren, Cody and Kaleigh Mathews of Ratliff City, Jade and Ana Airington of Velma; brother, Muriel Cantrell and family; the Cantrell and Chitwood families; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Bruce Lynn, Chris Fenton, Bill Moore, Garrett Moore, Joyle Hurst, and Terry Hoggard.
Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Moore and Tom Whitener.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
