Woodford- Graveside Services for Mr. Carter Junior Kennedy, 69, of Springer are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Woodford Cemetery with Bro. David Standifer officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.


Junior was born April 15, 1939 at Lone Grove to the late Mr. Carter Waterman and Mrs. Dince (Pierce) Kennedy. He departed this life December 1, 2008 at Ardmore.


Junior was reared in Carter County, graduating High School from Wilson in 1956. He was inducted in the United States Army June 27, 1962 at Oklahoma City. In the Army Junior had assignments as a Telecommunications technician with specialties as a sharpshooter. He served honorably being discharged from active duty in 1964. He and the former Ms. Reba Putman were united in marriage January 4, 1965 at Ardmore. They remained in Wilson a short while before making their home in Springer. Junior was employed for Atlas Roofing for 31 years retiring from there in 2001. He was always an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was a past member of the Southern Baptist Church in Woodford.


Preceding him in death is his Parents, Granddaughter, Charlotte Hair, 7 Brothers, Jim Bob, Clifton, Bryant, Delbert, Bud, Joe and Roy Dalton. 2 Sisters, Nancy Cleo and Letha Golden.


Survivors include his wife Reba of the home, Daughters, June Hair and husband Jason of Sulphur, Nellie Knuckles of Marietta, and Aretha South and husband Jerry of Springer. A special niece Cheryl Kennedy of the home, Grandchildren, Chantry Hair, Matt Hair, Domineque Carey, Jessica Carey, Joshua Smith, Justin “Bubba” South, and Joseph “Bugg” South. Sister, Edna Lathum of Springer, 2 Brothers, Willie “Bunk” Kennedy of Noble, and J.L. “Jack” Kennedy of Wilson. Numerous other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.


Pallbearers will be Cliff Moore, Randy Putman, Robert Grover, Ricky Putman, Jimmy Walker, & Dalton Kennedy.


Honorary bearers will be Rusty Putman, Chris “Bubba” Putman and Brian Putman


Family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the funeral home in Wilson.
