Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Carl "Dean" Vernon, 59 of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Baker officiating. Interment will follow to Vernon Family Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Dean was born on February 16, 1961 in Wilson, OK to the late Mr. Melvin Eugene "Smooth" Vernon and Mrs. Meady Mae (Nipp) Vernon. He departed from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at his home in Wilson.
Dean was raised in Simon attending school at Turner and Wilson. He started working at an early age in construction most of all his working years. Dean owned and operated Vernon's Trucking and Dozer and Vernon's Concrete for many years. Lastly, he was employed as a site safety coordinator for several companies until his health declined. Dean always enjoyed driving Ford trucks, smoking Marlboro Red cigarettes and drinking grape Kool Aid.
Preceded him in death are his parents; sister, Connie King; nephews, Chris Hayes, Cody Ponder, Brad King and a cousin, James Goode.
Dean is survived by his children, Mindy Robinson and Greg Piper of Lone Grove, Dillon Vernon of Wilson, Caleb Vernon and wife Mikayla of Lone Grove and Candace Barella of Roswell, NM; sisters, Debbie Hayes and husband James of Ardmore, Danell Bray and husband Danny of Wilson, and Denise Voyles and husband Billy of Wink, TX; brothers, David Vernon and wife Lois of Wilson, Dale Vernon and wife Judy of Wilson and Dennis Vernon and wife Kathryn of Wilson; brother in law, Clifford King of Lone Grove; companion, Lou Fincher of the home; grandchildren, Cooper and Parker Robinson, Corbin Dean, Camdyn and Landree Vernon, Chase Vernon and Raelyn Mitchell, Raylynn, Donivon and Jenelle Buechner; very special friends, Sharon Sue Stewart and Kathy (DeMorjian) Epley; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Conro Dillon Vernon, Caleb Martin Dale Vernon, C.J. Goode, Terry Brown, Richard Wright, James Milner, and David Hull.
Honorary bearers will be Colby Barrick, Kelen Permerton, Russell Beck, Freddie Williams, Owen Hodges, Val Gene Cantwell, Jim Taylor, the late James Goode and the late Craig Smith and his grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Saturday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
