Carl C. Pevehouse

December 10, 1933 — April 26, 2014

Ratliff City -Carl Pevehouse passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014 at his home in Ratliff City, OK surrounded by his loved ones. Service will be held Wednesday, April 30th , at 2:00 pm at Ratliff City Baptist Church. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th from 6-8 pm at Alexander Funeral Home, Ratliff City, OK.

He was born December 10, 1933 in Oktaha, OK to Theo Henry Pevehouse and Edna Marie Jones Pevehouse. Carl accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age and was of the Assembly of God faith.

He graduated from Oktaha High School and attended Oklahoma A&M. Carl served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Rozella Baker and to that union three children were born; Cheryl Pevehouse, Tammy Pevehouse-Townley, and Curtis Pevehouse.

Carl was self- employed in oilfield valve repair and separator business starting PV Valve in 1976. His hobby, and passion, was breeding, raising, and racing quarter horses. He was a true horseman in the quarter horse industry. He started the “Candy” line of horses in 1979. Carl has had much success with his “Candy” blood line which has produced many winners, including the Remington Park Derby in April of this year.

For over 30 years he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association where he served on the Board of Directors for several years. In February of this year, Carl was named 2013 Champion Oklahoma Owner and Breeder. He also won this honor in 2011 & 2012.

One of his earlier points of pride was in the early 1960’s when he was the second rancher to bring Charolais cattle to Oklahoma. He and Rozella had a small ranch by the name of Rose P Ranch. He was also a very accomplished auctioneer.

Carl is survived by wife, Rozella, of the home. Three children, Cheryl Pevehouse, of Ratliff City; Tammy, and husband, JR Townley, of Ardmore, OK; and Curtis Pevehouse, of Ardmore, OK. He is blessed with 8 grandchildren. Shawn, and husband Jerry Ellis, of Oklahoma City; Mark, and wife, Kristen, of Moore, OK; Jenna Jameson, of Oklahoma City, OK; Jessica Jameson, of Oklahoma City; Brianna Pevehouse, of Blanchard, OK; Logan Townley, of Ardmore, OK; Noah Townley, of Ardmore, OK; and Victoria Townley, of Ardmore, OK.

He has 10 great grand children. Ashton Ellis, Oklahoma City, OK; Alexee Ellis, Oklahoma City, OK; Lillian Rowe, Oklahoma City, OK; Ella Rowe, Oklahoma City, OK; Truman Rowe, Oklahoma City, OK; Bryce Hance, Moore, OK; Jayce Hance, , Moore, OK; Marlee Jameson, Moore, OK; Taylee Jameson, Moore, OK; and RJ Jameson, Moore, OK.

Serving as pallbearers are nephews Bill Pevehouse, Bret Pevehouse, Ronnie Pevehouse, Craig Baker and grandsons, Logan Townley and Noah Townley. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Kegan, Richard Wilburn, Clint Crawford, Danny Briscoe, Mike Womack, Kelly Tucker, and all employees of PV Valve and PV Farms.

In leiu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund, ;and the Nazi Zuhdi Transplant Center, c/o Integris Baptist Hospital, 3300 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.


Carl was a true patriot and a generous supporter of the local community.
