Calvin Clyde Thompson

February 20, 1944 — March 24, 2025

Graveside services for Mr. Calvin Clyde Thompson, 81, of Leon, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Leon cemetery with Bro. Jim Grounds officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Calvin was born February 20, 1944, at Healdton, OK to the late Mr. Buck Thompson and Mrs. Thelma (Bossa) Thompson. He departed this life March 24, 2025 in Ardmore.

Calvin spent his formative years in Ryan, where he immersed himself in education until he completed the tenth grade. His adolescent years were spent working diligently in cotton fields and on various farming endeavors, which instilled in him a strong work ethic and appreciation for the land. At the age of 18, he bravely enlisted in the Army as a paratrooper, a decision that would lead him on adventures around the globe over the course of two years. On November 26, 1968, Calvin married his beloved wife, Johnny Belinda (Tindall) Thompson. Together, they established their home in Wirt, Oklahoma, where Calvin embraced his faith, accepting Jesus as his personal Savior and following in baptism. Over the years, Calvin and Belinda moved to Dundee before eventually settling in Leon, a place they would call home for many joyful years. Belinda, who shared much of Calvin’s life, sadly preceded him in death on August 6, 2006. Calvin’s enduring love for her was evident in the way he honored their shared memories throughout his life. Calvin was a man of many passions; he cherished fishing, gardening, and horseshoeing, often spending his time immersed in nature. Those who knew him recognized his caring heart and his eagerness to lend a hand to others in need, reflecting a spirit of generosity that left a lasting impression on his family and friends. As we remember Calvin Clyde Thompson, we celebrate the life of a devoted husband, a respected veteran, and a kind-hearted individual who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and who will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Calvin was also preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Thelma; siblings, Fred, Buddy, June, Betty Sue, Dale, Bucky, and Thelma Jo.

Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Hawkins and husband Greg of Ringling and Shawn Thompson of Comanche; grandchildren, Ashtyne Hawkins and Paeton Hawkins; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Morgan Rhodes; siblings, Eddie Thompson, Larry Thompson, and David Thompson; numerous other family and friends.
