Calvin was born July 1, 1927 at St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Mr. Edward B. Johnson and Mrs. Irene (Westerlund) Johnson. He departed this life Saturday February 28, 2015 at the VA center of Ardmore.
Calvin was raised at St. Paul, MN and joined the United States Navy during WWII. He served honorably as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd class and was discharged on Dec. 17th of 1946. He then attended college at Penn State and also trained as a commercial Airline Pilot. Piloting soon became his career choice, flying for Universal Studios in California and then later as a Charter Pilot for American Flyers. He worked for American Flyers for several years retiring in early 1970’s. He and the former Ms. Joyce F. Thompson were united in marriage in December of 1975 at the Lake Murray Chapel in Ardmore. They were blessed with two children, Signe and Cal E. Johnson, II. They resided in Sherman and Pottsboro, Texas where Calvin worked some for Texas Instruments. Calvin moved to Wilson in 1982 residing near Reck. He enjoyed his animals, photography, and always loved to travel.
Preceding him in death were his Parents.
Survivors include his wife Joyce F. (Thompson) Johnson of Ardmore; two children; daughter, Signe Woods and Husband Matthew of Dickson and son, Cal E. Johnson, II of Ardmore, sister Helen Vogel and a brother, Jerry Johnson, both of St. Paul, MN; 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Austin and Landon Woods. Numerous other family and friends.
