Boyd Linton Melton

Mr. Boyd Linton Melton, of Ringling, departed this life on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Mercy Hospital of Oklahoma City at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 18 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 14, 2022 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Ringling Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.

Boyd was born on June 23, 1939 in Garvin, Oklahoma to the late Mr. Dolphus Linten Melton and Mrs. Oma Alice (Kennedy) Melton,

He was raised at Millerton (McCurtain County), Oklahoma. Boyd joined the United States Army in 1958 and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He spoke of serving with Elvis Presley and his generosity to the other G.I.'s. Boyd received an Honorable Discharge in 1961 and then resided in Texas. He married the former Barbara Wallace on June 9, 1978 in Ardmore. They moved around some but primarily lived in Ringling. Boyd worked as a truck driver retiring a few years ago. He always enjoyed watching comedy shows and being with family and friends. Boyd also loved playing music and singing with family. He was a member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Justin Duncan.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Barbara Melton of the home; children, Alan Wallace and wife Mary Ann of Ringling, Beverly Lynn Harbold, Harrisburg, PA, David Wesley Melton of Pennsylvania, Shawna Duncan and husband Ralph of Ringling; sisters, Alene Lewis of Idabel, Roberta Ohlerking and husband Peanut of Garvin, Rosanell McCoy of Whitefield, Viola Curtis of Arizona, Kathy Cantrell and husband Jess of Valliant,; brothers, Paul Melton and wife Pat of Grannis, AR; grandchildren, Brandy White and Derrick, Derek Wallace, Jared Duncan and Taylar; great grandchildren, Chaselynn Wallace, Noah White, and Carsyn Wallace. Many other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Alan Wallace, Don Cantrell, Jared Duncan, Randall Cantrell, Charlie Cargile, and Ryan Cole.

Visitation will be held 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
