Wilson-Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Ray Gafford, 60, formerly of Wilson will be 10 am Tuesday November 4, 2008 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson officiated by Larry Jackson. Burial will follow at Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.

Bobby was born May 21, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Mr. Rhuben Wesley and Mrs. Lillie B.(Copeland) Gafford. He passed away Friday October 31, 2008 in Sherman, Texas.

Bobby was raised in Wilson until 1952 when he and his family moved to Houston. There Bobby finished his education, graduating from South Houston High School in 1966. After graduation Bobby enlisted in the United States Navy serving one tour in Vietnam as a Military Police officer. After being honorably discharged, he and the former Ms. Lorraine Sillok were united in marriage in Las Vegas. They moved to California briefly, before making their home in Alaska in 1976. Residing in Alaska, Bobby was employed with Sam’s’ Club, retiring from there 19 years of employment. He then moved back to be closer to his family residing in Sherman, Texas. Bobby had a passion for the Dallas Cowboys football team, always loving to watch them play on Sundays and was a member of the Church of Christ.


Preceding him in death is his Father, Mr. Rhuben Wesley Gafford in 1976, and a daughter Barbara Renee Gafford in 1984.


Survivors include his Mother Lillie Gafford of Wilson, 1 Son, Larry Ray Gafford of New Braunfelds,Texas , 1 Daughter, Jewell Gafford of Anchorage, Alaska, 2 Sisters Linda Young and husband Gary of Ardmore, Faye Idleman and husband David of Wilson, 6 Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Gafford, Gary Young, Sean Davis, Mark Idleman and Kenny Young.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday at the Funeral Home in Wilson.
