Bobby Joe Taylor

Wilson - Memorial graveside services for Mr. Bobby Joe Taylor, 81, formerly of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Hewitt Cemetery with Rev. Jason Williams Officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home & Crematory of Wilson.

Bobby was born August 23, 1932 at Wilson to the late Joe Taylor and Marie Lofton. He departed this life Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Ardmore.

Bobby was raised in Wilson graduating from Wilson High School in 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy on August 28, 1951 and served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Bobby received the Navy and Marines Corps Medal "for heroic conduct in connection with the rescue of a civilian from drowning." He was honorably released from active duty on June 7, 1955 and returned home to Wilson. Bobby married Ms. Vivian Stevens on July 8, 1955 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson. To this union arrived two boys, B.J and Mark. On February 7th of 1972, Vivian tragically preceded him in death.

Bobby worked for Citgo Oil for 38 years before retiring as a scheduling supervisor. After retirement, Bobby was selected as a member of the Professional Bowlers Association on June 6, 1993. As an accomplished bowler, he traveled extensively throughout the United States competing in various PBA tournaments. Bobby was preceded in death by his Mother, Marie (Lofton) Lindsay & loving Step-Father RC "Cliff" Lindsay, Grandmother, Rebecca Lofton and most recently a Son, B.J. Taylor - February 1, 2013.

Survivors include a Son Mark Taylor and wife Linda of Lake Kiowa, TX; Daughter-in-Law, Cindy Taylor of Ada, Grandson Curtis Taylor and wife Jill of Ada, Granddaughter, Lindsay Taylor of Los Angeles, CA . Numerous other relatives and friends. Family visitation will be Wednesday, July 30th from 5pm to 6 pm evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
