Billye "Jeleen" Sumrall

Funeral Services for Billye "Jeleen" (Monkres) Sumrall, 78 are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Marietta with Rev. Jimmy May officiating. Interment will follow to Leon Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

"Jeleen” was born April 14, 1939 at Leon, Ok to the late Mr. James Bennett Monkres and Mrs. Hester Leon (Pierce) Monkres. She departed from this life on August 19, 2017 at Ardmore.

Jeleen was born and raised at Leon where she attended school, graduating High School in 1957. After graduation Jeleen continued her education at the Iowa State University receiving a degree in Business Administration. On November 11, 1967 she was united in marriage to Lt. Douglas Andrew Sumrall at Copper Cove, TX. Doug was career military therefore due to his changes in assignment they lived in numerous cities. Jeleen was fortunately able to transfer her job due to being a Civil Service employee. The couple resided in California, Alaska, Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, and retired in Mississippi. After Doug passed away on January 20, 2000 in Mississippi, Jeleen returned home to Oklahoma and has been living in Ardmore since.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas; father, Jim; mother, Hester; father who raised her, Thurman Monkres; sisters, Jackie Miller and Joan Authur; niece Charla and nephew’s Jamie and Jaryl.

Jeleen is survived by her brother, Pierce Monkres and wife Sandy of University Park, Texas; nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Josh, Joie, Paula, Janett, Joni, Jackie Dale, and Jay Lynn; numerous great nieces and great nephews; caregiver, nephew Tim Arthur; other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Terry Pierce, Mike Parker, Marvin Conway, Jimmy Monkres, Jackie Dale Miller, and Tim Arthur.

A family visitation is scheduled for 6-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at the First Baptist Church in Marietta.
