Wilson – Funeral Services for Billy Dow Grover, 72 of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 7, 2023, at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Gardner. Interment will follow to Lone Grove Cemetery.
Bill was born December 8,1950 in Ardmore, OK to the late Mr. Melvin Phillip Grover and Mrs. Margaret “Fern” (Wallace) Grover. He departed from this life on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in Oklahoma City.
Bill had a hometown heart. He began his life in Lone Grove on Church Street. As a young boy he moved across the Rocky Mountains with his family for a few years. As a young man he again moved around with his own family to serve in the Air Force in South Carolina and then to follow oil field work across Texas and Oklahoma. By 1981, he returned to Church Street and never left. In the 1990’s he began a life with his wife, Kathy. They began working together in the construction field and raised a daughter together.
Bill had a love for animals that started in childhood and continued his whole life. He was especially fond of monkeys. He raised two monkeys over a span of 40 years. He loved his little Khloe like another child. Upon his father’s death, he took over his cattle and started a heard of his own which brought much joy to his life.
He was a man who would stop anywhere at any time to help someone in need. He loved tinkering on old cars, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He loved his family and took much pride in watching his kids, grandkids and great grandchildren grow.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Fern; a sister, Melanie (Grover) Lord and an infant daughter Shawn Grover.
Billy is survived by his wife, Kathy; their daughter Amber McSperritt and husband Brian, his children, Amy Long and husband Shane, Shane Grover and wife Cheryl; grandchildren, Josh Grover, Mersadies Grover, Amarah Grover, Alyssa Grover, Ashton Hunziker and husband Kylar, Aidan Long and wife Megan, Avin Long, Anson Long, Liam McSperritt, and Lola McSperritt; great grandchildren, McKinley Grover, Briley Grover, Bobbye Byers, and Maysea Byers; aunts, Peggy Robinson and Mary Sue Chandler; and by a host of other family and friends.
