Wilson - Funeral Services for Mr. Billy "Bud" Ray Abshire, 85 of Ozark, MO are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Phillip Abshire officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery.
Mr. Abshire was born on May 24, 1938 at Ringling, OK to the late Mr. Coy Abshire and Mrs. Myrtle Lee (Evans) Abshire. He departed from this life on January 29, 2024 in Ozark, MO. Billy attended school in Ringling and was a graduate of Ringling High School. On November 16, 1957, he married Lawanda Faye McMillen. He worked briefly in the oilfield and move to Madera, CA where he began a career with Pacific Gas and Electric starting as lineman apprentice, moving to Los Banos, CA and retiring as District foreman in 1989.
After retiring, Mr. Abshire spent time enjoying the lake near his home at Cape Fair, MO until moving to Ozark, MO about ten years ago. Mr. Abshire enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, collecting coins and going to auctions. Mr. Abshire loved his pet companion "Bo-Bo".
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Lawanda Faye Abshire on January 29, 2003, brothers, Oliver and Jerry Abshire; and a grandson, Joey Silva.
Mr. Abshire is survived by his children, Billy Ray Abshire, Jr. Donna Abshire, Trisha Hare and Mickey Abshire; siblings, Coy L. Abshire and Tammy Norton; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Silva, Billy Ray Abshire, III, Dalton Tjelmeland, Addison Abshire, Kellz Abshire, Steve McMillen, and Sammy McMillen. Honorary bearers will be Marion Richardson and Charles Cain.
Visitation will be held Friday evening 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
