Billy "Bill" Ray Stroud

September 15, 1934 — February 12, 2022

Ringling - Celebration of Life Services for Mr. Billy "Bill" Ray Stroud, 87, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. February 16, 2022, at the Ringling United Methodist Church with Rev. Alex Costea officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Bill was born Sept. 15, 1934, at Mountain Home to the late Mr. Floyd Franklin and Mrs. Hattie Lee (Lantz) Stroud. He went to his heavenly home on Saturday evening, Feb. 12, 2022, at Duncan.

As a young man, Bill was helping his father, Floyd with some farm work at Claypool for Ernest Dickey and he saw the prettiest little girl there named Charlsia Mae "Chock" Dickey, and he fell in love with her at first sight and never looked back. They were united in marriage on June 11, 1955, at Claypool. Afterwards, Bill enlisted into the US Army and was soon shipped overseas to Germany. He found out that he was going to be a Daddy while he was stationed there, and didn't get to see his daughter Becky, until she was 18 months old.

Bill was an accomplished carpenter, building his home in Ringling where he still resided. Through his years of working, he had constructed several homes in the area and also taught Vocational Carpentry for several years. His nick name was "Do-Dad", given to him by Myles and Wesley Stroud, because of his ability to do or make anything. Bill was also very active in the Ringling Methodist Church, building the parsonage and always loving Sunday School.

Bill loved hunting and fishing, camping, gardening and just about anything outdoors. He never liked staying inside. He loved God with his whole heart and had a great relationship with the Lord, his family, his church, friends and everyone in the Ringling community. Bill had served as a councilman for the town of Ringling and also served on the Ringling VFD for many years. He was a Master Mason, Ranch Hand, very involved in Kids Club, member of the Methodist Men's Mowing Group for Widows and with Doc Tripp could make numerous peanut butter sandwiches in his sleep.

Preceding him in death was his parents; wife Charlsia "Chock" Stroud on Sept. 12, 2011; sister and brother-in-law, Mae and Pete Wright; parents-in-law, Ernest and Naoma Dickey, and other in laws, Doyal and Betty Jane Dickey and Hollis Dickey.

Survivors include, daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Saville and husband John of Velma; son, Chris Stroud and wife Polly of Ringling; daughter, Penny Vasquez and husband Richard of Bridge Creek; grandchildren, Tami Mitchell and husband Greg, Nici Hinkel and husband Zac, Wes Stroud and wife Leaha, Myles Stroud and wife Lindsey, Preston Vasquez and Dr. Jessi Lajos, and Dr. Bailey Vasquez; 9 great grandchildren; nieces, Roberta "Bird" Lynch of Wilson and Sandi Spinney of Tuttle; numerous other family, church family and friends.
