Countyline – Funeral Services for Mr. Billie Charles Pruitt, 75, lifelong resident of Countyline, are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Countyline First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Choate officiating. Interment will follow at Claud Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Billie was born December 2, 1935 at Velma to the late Mr. Richard “Buck” Burl Pruitt and Mrs. Iva Marie (Denney) Pruitt. He departed this life Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Ardmore.
Billie grew up in the Countyline area graduating from Fox High School. He worked in the Oilfield all of his working years and had owned and operated B & A Tank Truck Service in Davis in 1970’s and 1980’s. His passions were quail hunting and being a Cowboy.
In his younger days, he was an avid calf roper and competed in and won several rodeos and jackpots. He loved to talk horses and tell his rodeo stories until the day he died. In 2005, Bill was awarded the “Old Settlers Picnic Living Legend Award. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play football, rope and play softball. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and church family at Countyline Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death are his parents; 3 brothers, Gene, Richard and Edwrad “Bee Honey” Pruitt; Wife Sharon Pruitt and companion, Pat Pruitt.
Survivors include his 2 Sons, William Dusty Pruitt and wife Julie of Velma, and Mickey Pruitt and wife Cheryl also of Velma. Grandchildren, Tyler Pruitt of Velma; Barkley Pruitt and wife Morgan of Springer; Whitney Pruitt and Jessica Pruitt, both of Velma. Aunt, Pearl Pruitt of Duncan. Stepdaughter, Robyn Sullivan of Davis. 2 Step grandchildren, Brook Lynch of Davis and Jonathan Davis of Elmore City. Sisters, Iva Marie Loring and Betty Turvey, both of Louisiana. Numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers are Norman Shiplet, Kevin Birch, Bill Priddy, Robert Inmon, Kenneth Ketchum, and Roland Barrick.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Mercy Memorial Hospital of Ardmore, Nurses and Staff of the 2nd floor for their kind felt care and dedicated support.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Ratliff City.
