Wilson- Funeral Services for Mr. Bill Denton Ausbrooks,81 of Ardmore are scheduled for 10:00 am Wed. February 10, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Ray Chaney and Larry Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta.
Bill was born May 1, 1934 at Silver City to the late Mr. Villey Parker Ausbrooks and Mrs. Gennie Alan (Mays) Ausbrooks. He departed this life Friday, February 5, 2016 at the Love County Health Center of Marietta.
Bill was raised as 1 of 9 children moving frequently following the Oil Patch. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and served honorably from 1957 to 1962 as a PFC. After his discharge he returned to Oklahoma and soon gained employment in Oklahoma City at the OU Health Science Center. There he continued his employment retiring in 1988 as the Chief Master Locksmith.
Bill married the former Ms. Karen Kay Dickson on June 16, 1990 at Eufala, OK. They made their home together residing in Ardmore. Bill enjoyed aggravating his wife and spending time in his woodshop carving on projects. He also enjoyed working in his garden and attending the Southwest Church of Christ of Ardmore.
Preceding him in death was his Parents; Sisters, Lucille, Evelyn, Irene, Marie, Pauline and Jean; and a brother George.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of the home; four legged companion, Sweetie Pie also of the home; daughter, Vasca Stanley and husband Wesley of Moore; grandchildren, Denton and Thomas "Taz" Stanley of Moore; father in law, Mr. Bill Dickson of Ardmore; brother, Jack Ausbrooks and wife Lois of Yale; sisters in law, Mary Ausbrooks of Comanche, Deann Powell and husband Bob of Alvord, TX, Dalhia Lewis, Alice Hartman, Lani Vance all of Ardmore and Billie Chaney and husband Ray of Thackerville; nieces and nephews, Vickie Potts, Rick Ausbrooks, Larry Dean Villines, Don Villines, Mary Lou Mullins, Lara Jean Taft, Ron Shuey, Linda Cornforth, Mary Kathryn Nava, Rebekah Powell and Willie Vance; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Casket Bearers are Denton Stanley, Thomas Stanley, Phillip Vance, Willie Vance, Marc Newell and Bill Schipper.
Honorary bearer is the late Mr. Tom Ingram.
Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
