Ringling - Services for Mrs. Betty Ann (Choate) Pemberton, 85, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Bobby Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Betty was born on July 15, 1939 at Ringling to the late Ernest Marion Choate and Mary “Annie” L. (Martin) Choate. She peacefully passed from this life on Thursday evening , Jan. 9, 2025 at Madill.
Betty was known as Nanny to many, as well as a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother and Wife. She had a deep compassion and unwavering love for her family. Betty graduated from Ringling High School with the class of 1958, before embarking on a life of service and care for others.
A lifelong love story, Betty met her high school sweetheart, Barry “Punkin” Pemberton, after many years apart. They would reunite and marry on February 17, 2006 at Wilson. Together they built a loving family and shared a bond that lasted through the years .
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynda Shores; sisters, Lorene Pemberton, Joy Tanner and Ruth Keeton; brother, Bill Choate and her special aunt, Irene Rumsey.
Survivors include her loving husband, Barry “Punkin” Pemberton of the home; children, Ricky Branch and wife Jennifer, Kim Taylor and husband Donnie and Dawna Bailey and husband Matt, and step children, Lori Riley and Tommy Pemberton; Betty was also the proud grandmother of nine; Jetty Barnes, Hallie Keeler, Chase Shores, Jerrad Lewis, Lacrisha Gerner, Courtney Wiley, Dylan Collins, Gator Branch and Rockie Green; She also leaves behind her brother, Bob Choate and wife Pat and countless great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Betty’s career was defined by a lifelong devotion to caring for others. She worked for many years in Nursing Home facilities before retiring as a private care professional nurse. Her compassion and dedication to her patients were unparalleled, always going the extra mile to ensure they received the best care possible. She had a gift for making others feel seen and loved, and was known for her gentle reminders to those in need. “It won’t always be this way.” Betty touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Chase Shores, Jerrad Lewis, Gator Branch, Dylan Collins, Krayton Shores, and Kruz Shores. Honorary bearers will be Jetty Barnes, Donnie Gaines, and Jay Herrington.
A family night will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ringling, OK.
