Betty Jo Copeland

Wilson - Funeral Services for Betty Jo (Barnes) Copeland, 86 of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Ash Street Church of Christ with Jeff Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Simon Cemetery south of Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Betty was born on July 13, 1930 at Foster to the late Mr. Jesse Andrew Barnes and Mrs. Edna Jane (Smith) Barnes. She departed this life on Saturday May 27, 2017 at her home in Wilson.

Betty was graduated from 8th grade at Post Oak School. She married Mr. Elmer Louis Copeland on Nov. 10, 1946 at Gainesville, TX. Primarily they made their home in Wilson. Betty was a devout homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed taking cake decorating classes at Vo-Tech later in life.

Betty worked outside the home as a Nurses Aide. She retired from Memorial Hospital of Southern Oklahoma on Feb. 14, 1990. During this time she was very proud to receive her GED at the age of 53.

Betty always enjoyed camping, fishing, doing jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She was a faithful member of the Ash Street Church of Christ of Wilson.

Preceding her in death are her Parents; husband, Elmer- Nov. 26, 1985; son Jimmy Vearl,- July 20, 1992; brother, John W. Barnes; sisters, Rosie Cantwell and Lucille Jones; infant sister, Freda and granddaughter,Jodie Phillips Davis.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Louise Phillips of Wilson and Randi Lynn Burk and husband James of Ratliff City; son, Ricky W. Copeland of Wilson; grandchildren, Kevin, Jerry and wife Jeanette, Richard, Louis and wife Heather and Keeva; great grandchildren, Sierra, Trey, Tyler, Cassie, Gavin, Autumn, Kyrie, Kashlynn, Logan and Tyler; great great grandchildren, Julie and Pasley; a very dear friend, Quienton Russell; numerous other family and friends.

Casket Bearers will be Kevin Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Gavin Phillips, Trey Phillips, Louis Weatherford and Rocky Copeland.

Honorary Bearers are Richard Phillips, Ricky Copeland and James Burk.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wed. evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
