Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Berna Dean (McVay) Parrish, 86, is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday December 30, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Wilson with Rev. Sherry Kendrick officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Berna Dean was born July 30, 1925 at Harjo, OK to the late Mr. Loy McVay and Mrs. Melvin Aralee (Wilson) McVay. She went to be her with her Lord and Savior Monday evening, December 26, 2011 at the Wilson Nursing Center of Wilson.
Berna Dean was raised in Harjo attending school there and graduated high School as the class Valedictorian. There she enjoyed playing basketball and soon met the love of her life, Mr. Hugh Charles Parrish. They married on October 12, 1942 at Shawnee. They were married a total of almost 69 years on earth and now are united together again in Heaven for eternity.
Berna Dean was the example of a Mother. She kept her house tidy and prepared meals with love and care. She was an excellent seamstress making everything from costumes to Wedding dresses. She was very devoted to her Church and family. She attended all events of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Preceding her in Death is her Parents; Husband Charley – May 17, 2011; Sister Wanda; and Brother in law, Junior.
Survivors include Daughter, Barbara Woulfe and husband Gary of Ardmore; Son Gary Parrish and wife Ann of Wilson; Grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Kari Ann, Aimee, Laci and Zane. Great Grandchildren, J.T. and wife Chelsea, Lindsey and husband John, Carley, Clay, Carson, Emily, Parker, Cache, Paetyn, Hannah, Cannon, Parri, Bradley, Jennifer, and Audrey. Great Great Grandchildren, Saylor, Draedyn and Taytum. Numerous other nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Laci Parrish, Chris Woulfe, J.T. Woulfe, Lance Butler, Kevin Garrett, and Jeremy Atwood.
Honorary Bearers are Ann Parrish, Barbara Woulfe, Kari Ann Butler, Lisa Atwood, Aimee Garrett, Mary Bone, Sheila Fulton, Lawana Wilson and June Stewart.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Wilson P.O. Box 235 Wilson, OK 73463.
Family visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home in Wilson.
