Barbara Lee Tynes

Wilson - Home Going services for Mrs. Barbara Lee (Genn) Tynes, 93, of Wilson are scheduled 3:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with George Lynn Harris officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Barbara was born on January 26, 1927 at Santa Anna, TX to the late Mrs. Roy Leslie Genn and Mrs. Esther (Hill) Genn. She went to her heavenly home on Wednesday morning January 29, 2020 at a healthcare facility in Davis.

Barbara moved from Texas to Springer as an infant and was raised there. She attended school at Berwyn , which is now Gene Autry, and graduated from High School from there in 1946. Thereafter, she married Mr. Robert Orville Tynes on August 26, 1946 at Gainesville, TX.

They shared many wonderful years together residing primarily in Wilson. Together they owned and operated "Tynes Laundromat" in Wilson . Barbara also served as a cook for the Wilson School Cafeteria from 1975 to 1986 and was employed for Dr. Noma Rector for several years.

Barbara and husband Robert moved back to Springer in 1991 to enjoy their retirement together. Robert preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2002. At this time they had moved back to Wilson where Barbara remained until moving to the village in Ardmore. Barbara was a member of the Wilson First Baptist Church and also attended the Southwest Baptist Church of Ardmore.

In addition to her husband Robert, also, preceding her was a son Roy Tynes; her parents, Roy and Esther; brothers, Fred, Cecil and Kenny Genn and sisters, Dorothy Wood and Juanita Rasor.

Survivors include daughters, Robbie Tynes of Ardmore and Elaine Sullivan and husband Jimmy of Sulphur; brothers, Jim Genn of California, David Genn of Phoenix, AZ and Joe Genn of California; grandchildren, Robert Tynes, Russell Billingsley, Ryan Billingsley, Erron Gunter and Holly Tynes; great grandchildren, Gabriel Tynes, Purity Billingsley and Harper and Heidi Gunter; numerous other family and extended family, Elia Barela , Rex Billingsley and Ronald Gunter.

Honorary Bearers are George Lynn Harris, Ron Elmore, Ronald Gunter and Rex Billingsley.

Family visitation will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
