Anna Lee (Russell) Vines

Wilson - memorial Services for Anna Lee Vines, 82, are scheduled for 3:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Larry Schoonover officiating. Arrangements are being made under the care and direction of Alexander-Gray Crematory of Ringling.

Anna Lee was born on July 18, 1933 at Healdton to the late Mr. James McKinley Russell and Mrs. Lena Rivers (Justus) Russell. She departed this life on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Oklahoma City.

Anna Lee Met Mr. Jacob W. Vines, Jr. at the Velma-Alma Picnic in 1949. They were married on September 17, 1949 in Clemscott, Ok. They spent their early married years living in Oklahoma and Southern Illinois. Their union was blessed with five children.

Anna Lee worked primarily in the restaurant industry, starting in Illinois at Mary’s Café’ in Cairo. After she moved her family back to Oklahoma, she worked at Junior’s Restaurant, Bill and Barb’s Restaurant, and El Palacio Restaurant in Waurika. Anna Lee was also the manager of Corral Restaurant in Ardmore for several years. She later opened her own sandwich shop called"The Downtowner". After selling her business, she worked part time in the Springer School Cafeteria and then as a custodian for Lone Grove Middle School prior to retiring.

Anna Lee enjoyed her retirement years, reveling in the growth of her family through the blessed addition of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. She was proud to see her family reach five living generations in 2015.

Anna Lee loved gardening, working in her yard, and visiting with her neighbors and family. She would help her neighbors in any way that she could, from digging a drainage ditch during flooding of the neighborhood to offering sound, practical advice when asked. She lived 44 years in her neighborhood and enjoyed visits from families and children she had watched grow over the years.

Preceding her in death were her Parents, Jim and Lena Russell; husband, Jacob W. Vines, Jr. on January 6, 1967; great granddaughter, Juanita Shea Self, and an infant brother, James Everett Russell.

Survivors include her children, Anna Marie Shelton of Benton, IL., Jacob W. Vines III and wife Frances of Lone Grove, Steven E. Vines and wife Betty of Ardmore, Darla Dougan and husband Tim of Ardmore, and Theresa Gustine and husband Alan of Lindsay, TX.; brother, William Russell and wife Joyce Ann of Ardmore; sisters, Reecie Miller of Lone Grove, Edith Cossairt and husband Danny of Norman, and Rosyln Tiner and husband Terry of Zaneis; 12 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 4 Great Great Grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Honorary Bearers are grandchildren, Ed Shelton, Anna Kaye Summers, Scarlet Hunter, Jacob Vines IV, Steven Vines, James Vines, Tony White, Leanna Gustine, Amy Torrez, Andy Hill, Derek Flatt, and Will Dougan.
