Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Anna Cordelia (Spoon) McGaughy, 98, of Wilson is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday February 26, 2019, at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Rev. Dale Tarp and Rev. Micah Wells officiating. Interment will follow at the Reck Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Anna was born on Nov. 1, 1920 at Hartshorne, OK, to Mr. Fred Spoon and Mrs. Mary Lavina "Vina" (Potter) Spoon. She went to her heavenly home on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at the Wilson Nursing Center.
Anna was raised primarily at Springer graduating school from there. She began working at a job at the Egg Plant of Ardmore and there soon met the love of her life, Mr. Clifford McGaughy. They were united in marriage on Sept. 8, 1947 at Gainesville, TX. They have shared 71 wonderful years together residing mostly within the Wilson area. Anna worked as a nurses aid for 25 years at the Wilson Nursing Home. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She raised her children attending church at the Reck Fellowship Mission Assembly of God and when it closed in 1972, she then transferred her membership to the Wilson Assembly of God Church of Wilson. There she has always enjoyed worshiping and singing for the Lord and being with her family.
Preceding her in death are her Parents; infant baby boy, Roy Clifford and an infant daughter, Florence Ann McGaughy; brothers, William, Charlie and Joe Spoon; sisters, Babbette Thompson, Flora Canada and Sylvia Burks.
Survivors include her husband Clifford McGaughy of the home; daughters, Carolyn Randolph of Wilson, Clara Morgan and husband Bill, of Healdton and Marilyn Monroe McGaughy of Wilson; son, Jim McGaughy and wife Melody, of Wilson; brothers, Frank Spoon and wife Nina, of Winfield, KS, and Clarence Spoon of Ardmore; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. numerous other family, church family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Greg Morgan, Scott Morgan, Ricky Meyer, Scott Ficklin, Brandon Christensen and Josh Taylor.
Honorary Bearers are Jeremy Norton, Kent Fondren, Ben Morgan, Josh Thomas, Don Morgan and Mark Cole.
Family visitation will be held on Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home in Wilson.
