October 16, 1923 — September 16, 2015

Wilson- Services for Alvie "Ab" Earl Walker, 91, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Braziel officiating. Interment will follow at Cheek Cemetery, south of Lone Grove.

Alvie was born on October 16, 1923 at Wilson to the late Mr. Charlie Walker and Emmer B (Gillespie)Walker. He went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Healdton.

Alvie was saved and baptized at the Rosehill Baptist Church. His life demonstrated the faith and wisdom he had in the Almighty. He created a nucleus and bond in his children that has never been broken.

Alvie was raised south of Wilson at Ghost Hollar. He married Betty Milliken on January 5, 1944 at Ardmore. Together they moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where they raised 7 children. He was employed with North Texas Steele, Co. for 31 years. Alvie retired and moved back to his home place in Wilson where he began raising cattle and running those coon dogs. He worked at Semco for 6 years and the Carter Co Courthouse in maintenance. His passion of hunting drove him many miles through the rugged terrain of this country. A good friend, Jack Vandeventer, called him ole Moses when the bayou would be bank to bank with water he could take a stick and part the waters for those dogs. He won the heart of his mother-in-law by bringing a mess of squirrels to court the love of his life. His generation knew the hardships of the depression. Knowing starvation and sickness he was a man of resilience. Strong , with the strength to survive. Never complaining, just being grateful. The love he had for children would melt your heart. His grandchildren filled his world with love and joy. We are blessed to have his legacy a part of our life.

Preceding him in death were his devoted wife Betty Evelyn (Milliken)Walker; Daughter, Loeta Earlene Patterson; grandson, Jesse; Son, Robert “Bob” Lee Walker; Brothers, Sylvester "Sonny Boy" and Melvin Walker, Chock and Frank Yancey, Leonard, Newton, Arvin Walker; Sisters, Sylvia, Daisey, Dora and Phelina; and a very dear companion, Juanita Monson.
