Fox - Funeral Services for Mr. Allen Leon Thompson, 87, of Fox are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at the Ratliff City First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery at Healdton. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Leon was born March 1, 1928 at Corwell, TX to the late Mr. Herbert Allen Thompson and Mrs. Jessie (Ellis) Thompson. He departed this life on Sat. January 9, 2016 at the Wilson Nursing Center.
Leon moved from Corwell, TX with his family to Comanche in 1930. From there he lived the rest of his remaining years residing in Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Fox High School. After he graduated from school in 1947, Leon joined the United States Army, serving in the Korean War until 1949. Then he met Bea, and they were soon married on October 30, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in DeQueen, AR. They moved to Tishomingo, where Leon was currently attending college at Murray State until 1952. Afterwards they moved back to the Healdton and Fox area.
Leon worked in the Oilfield for Edwin L. Cox for 35 years. He was also a Rancher, having both cattle and horses and was quite a cowboy. He loved Rodeo and adored kids and the Fox FFA.
Preceding him in death was a grandson, Jimmy Lee Thompson, Jr.; Parents - Herbert and Jessie Thompson; brother, Doyle Thompson ; infant brother, Charles Thompson; infant sister, Prescilla June Thompson and his Grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife Bea (Dees) Thompson; son, Tommy Thompson and wife Ruth Ann of Comanche, daughter, Barbara Thompson and husband Jimmy of Ratliff City and a son, Charles Thompson of Lebanon; sisters, Pat Pass-Stout of Ardmore and Betty Mashore of Fox; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Jade Thompson, Toby Thompson, Chad Dumos, Christian Dewbre, Ty Phillips and Charlie Foster.
Honorary bearers are Josh Thompson, Doil Hammersly, Dustin Thompson, Pat Anderson, Jim Burton, and Mike Anderson.
Family visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday evening.
