Burneyville – Funeral Services for Alisa J (Awtrey) Gunnels, 40, of Burneyville are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday Nov. 27, 2010 at the Burneyville Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling.

Alisa J was born June 27, 1970 at Ardmore to Mr. J C and Mrs. Dorothy N. (Ragan) Awtrey. She went to be the Lord Thanksgiving morning November 25, 2010 at her home in Burneyville.

Alisa J was raised at Ringling attending church at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist. She graduated from Ringling High School and then attended college at Murray State in Tishomingo. She was a Pharmacy Technician for many years at Kerr Reavis Drug/ Tigert Pharmacy of Ardmore. Alisa J married Rev. Mark Allen Gunnels June 11, 2007 at Ardmore. She adored being a minister’s wife and always enjoyed helping with Church whether it was playing the piano, singing with her beautiful Alto voice, teaching Sunday school, or helping those in times of need. She anonymously always helped people and would always remember everyone’s birthdays and special occasions by sending them lovely cards. She was a member of the Burneyville Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death is her Mother, Dorothy “Dot” Awtrey and sister Connie Lyle.

Survivors include her Husband Mark of the home. Son, Jeremy Willis also of the home. Daughters, Amanda Ross and husband Rex of Oklahoma City, and Chelsie Gunnels of Altus. Father, J C Awtrey of Ringling, Sisters, Debra Hicks of Burneyville, and Lacy Osborne and husband Joe of Norman. Brothers, Roger Awtrey and wife Tricia of Noble, Brother in Law, Tony Lyle of Ringling, and 1 Grandson, Austin Allen Ross.

Pallbearers will be the Men of the Burneyville Baptist Church.

In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations may be made to the Youth Fund of the Burneyville Baptist Church in care of Alexander Funeral Home 1302 7th St. Wilson, OK 73463.

The family will gather Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Burneyville Baptist Church for a time of visitation and support.
