Alex Hugh Miller

July 23, 1948 — February 7, 2021

Mr. Alex Hugh Miller, of Wilson, departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Ardmore at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 14 days. Funeral services with Military Honors are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Milo Baptist Church in Milo with Bro. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at the Tussy Cemetery. Services are under the direction and staff of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Alex was born on July 23, 1948 to the late Mr. Cain C.B. Miller and Flossie "Flo" (Redden) Miller.

Alex grew up in Healdton and attended school there and graduated with the Healdton High School Class of 1967. Alex was a excellent athlete in school and played many sports. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Alex received numerous awards for his service. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 DVC, Combat Infantryman Badge, AFEM, Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter (M-14), Expert (M-60), 1 CG (M-16). Alex was always friendly man and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed working with his horses and team roping. Alex loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He was always involved in the Healdton High School Alumni scholarship programs and was always present supporting the athletic departments.

Alex is preceded death by his parents; wife, Paula Jo Miller; brother, Ernie Miller; granddaughter, Molly Miller; brother in law, David Hudson.

Alex is survived by his daughter, Melissa Henderson and husband Kevin of Wilson; son, Michael Miller of Wilson; sisters, Bobby Couch of Ardmore, Betty Stanton and husband John of Ringling; Missy Kennedy and husband David of Ardmore; sister in law, Rubetta Miller of Healdton, Teresa Roberts and husband Melvin of Ardmore; special friend, Donna McNeill of Healdton; grandchildren, Garrett Lambert, Logan Miller, and Devin Henderson; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Serving as casket bearers will be Jimmy Rex Chatham, Carl Powell, Loran Hacker, Leon Emerson, Mike Wyche, Buster Murray, Brock Tibbs.

Honorary casket bearers will be nieces and nephews.
