Albert Lee “Mac” McGowan


Ringling – Funeral Services for Albert Lee “Mac” McGowan, 79, formerly of Ringling is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Rev. Ronnie Carroll and Rev. Stephen Carroll officiating. Grandson Josh McGowan will provide the Eulogy. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery of Ringling with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.


Mr. McGowan was born on October 15, 1932 at Ringling to the late Mr. Clarence Lee McGowan and Mrs. Maye Ellen (Hobbs) McGowan. He departed this life Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Ardmore.


Mr. McGowan was initially raised in Ringling and later moved to Muskogee where he attended High School and joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. He served in the Marine Corps honorably working in the Mortuary Receiving Sector. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to school and completed his education for his diploma and soon married the former Ms. Ellen Faye Manley February 2, 1957 at Clovis, NM. Mr. McGowan owned and operated “Mac’s Upholstery” for 30 years in Lone Grove and also worked on campers in his later years. In the late 1950’s, Mac received his Pilot’s License and owned and operated his own Airplane. Mr. McGowan was a member of the Christ Tabernacle Church of Marietta.


Preceding him in Death are his Parents, Son, Sammy Lee McGowan – November 24, 2008, Sister, Geraldine Crossland, and Two Brothers, Barney McGowan and Gilbert McGowan.


Survivors include his wife Ellen of the home; Two Daughters, Terry Cannon and husband Dean of Irving, and Debbie McGowan of Lone Grove; 6 Grandchildren, Ronnie Van Buskirk, Josh McGowan, Brayden McGowan, James Cannon, Wrendy Dill, and Freddy McGowan; 4 Great Grandchildren, Joshua Matthew McGowan, Ethan Dill, Eli Dill, and Emily McGowan.


Pallbearers are Ronnie Van Buskirk, Josh McGowan, Brayden McGowan, Dean Cannon, Freddy McGowan, James Cannon and James Manley.


Family visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Friday evening at Alexander Funeral Home in Ringling.
