Ringling- Funeral Services for Mr. Alan D.Roberts, 68, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00PM Thursday October 22, 2015 at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery Pavilion with Bro. Ronnie Carroll officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Alan D. was born May 17, 1947 at Lindsey, OK to the late Mr. Isaac D. "Ike" Roberts and Mrs. Mildred Irene (Lyle) Roberts. He departed this life Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Alan D. was raised initially at Wilson residing there until the 8th grade. He then moved to Ringling where he graduated from High School in 1965. He was an All Area Football player and always said "they ran out of awards to give" him. Alan D. then attended college at Southeastern in Durant before being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served honorably stateside being discharged on October 26, 1972.

Shortly afterwards, Alan began a career, working as an Iron Worker for the Iron workers Union. He retired after 35 years of employment. Ringling was always his home where he enjoyed his family and farming on his land.He was an avid fan of the Ringling Blue Devils and was always on the go.Alan was also an excellent writer and poet.

Preceding him in death were his Parents; sisters, Shirley Ann McCrite and Gail Odom; 1 infant brother and a sister in law, Pamela Roberts.

Survivors include his brothers, Joe L. Roberts and wife Betty of Ringling; Larry Roberts and wife Jamie of Overbrooke and Paul Roberts and wife Tristan of Burneyville; Sisters, Pamela Garner and husband Jim of Dickson and Keli Smith and husband Bryan of Ringling; Special companion, Liz Kerley of Ringling; 11 nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; Uncle, Roy Lyle and Aunt Betty of Healdton; Aunts, Kathleen Apala of Ringling and Bettye Lamascus of Healdton; numerous cousins and a multitude of friends.

Casket bearers are Dave Hammons, Colby Smith, Zach Smith, Joey Roberts, Ben Roberts, and Charles Lyle.

Honorary Bearers are Audie Roberts, Earl Jay Roberts, Brent Thompson, Chad Thompson, Peck Pemberton, Mack Paul and Don Bennett.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wed. evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
