Bill was born February 22, 1932 at Copperhiil, TN to the late Mr. William Ephriam Abercrombie, Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth Luckus Abercrombie.
He graduated High School from Flat Rock High at Flat Rock, Michigan. He then entered the United States Air Force during the Korean War serving honorably for four years as Radar operator. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal for his dedication. He married the former Ms. Virginia (Scott) McCarthy August 29, 1987 at Dearborn, Michigan. Bill was employed as a Railroad Conductor for D-T & I/GTW and retired from there after 42 years of employment. He also built homes and done stonework, building fireplaces and such. Bill had been resident of Healdton for the past few years. He was a member of the Elks Flatrock of Michigan, the Ol’ Timers Retiree, and to the Saint Philip Lutheran Church in Trenton, Michigan.
Bill was loved by all that knew him. He was a wonderful man, and will be missed but never forgotten by all his family and friends. His wife said, “He was my friend, my life partner and the love of my life, my man”. Bills hobbies included playing golf, and working out at the health club, but most of all being with his family and friends.
Preceding him in death is his parents and a son-in-law Gary Gesch.
Survivors include his wife Virginia of the home, 2 Daughters, Kathleen Miller and husband Mark of North Carolina, and Karen Gesch of Michigan. 1 Stepdaughter, Vicki Pelfrey and husband Roger of Michigan, 4 Stepsons, Douglas McCallister and wife Joyce of Healdton, Brent McCallister of Healdton, Brian McCallister of Michigan and Robert McCallister of Healdton, 20 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Grandchildren, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters and Several nieces and nephews.
