Memorial services for William “Eddie” Edwin Hefner, 78, mechanic, of Wilson, will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Bro. Jim McGaughy officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson. 

Eddie was born December 27, 1944, at Wilson to the late Mr. Samuel Houston Hefner and Mrs. Nellie Cleveland (Chandler) Hefner. He departed this life Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home in Wilson.

Eddie was raised in Wilson where he attended school and graduated with the class of 1963. He married the former Ms. Cynthia Ann Guy on January 4, 1963, at Arlington, TX. The couple moved to Lynwood, CA in 1964, and returned to Wilson in 1972, where he owned and operated Hefner’s Service Station from 1972 to 2002. Eddie then worked for Wilson Public School in the maintenance department, beginning in 2000, retiring from there in 2007. He enjoyed computers, playing domino’s, playing pool, and other games. Eddie was very creative and showed his talents in his woodwork. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Samuel and Nellie; wife, Cynthia; siblings, Ruth, Roy, Samuel, Bill, Harold, Carl, Betty, Alva, Tommy, and May.

He is survived by his children, Adam Hefner and wife Lesa of Comanche, Barbara Beck and husband Riley of Wilson, Matthew Hefner and wife Lisa of OR, and Sondra Bayless and husband Brandon of Healdton; brother, Joe Hefner of California; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.
