Ringling – Funeral Services for Mrs. Thelma Mae (Eubanks) Scott, 104 of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Ringling United Methodist Church with Rev. Alex Costea officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
Thelma was born February 14, 1909 at New Mexico, Territory to the late Mr. Joseph Pal Eubanks and Mrs. Jenny Evelyn (Downs) Eubanks. She departed this life Monday, May 20, 2013 at her home in Ringling.
Thelma moved to Oklahoma in a covered wagon. They lived in Wardville and Devol where she graduated from High School. She graduated from Central State College, now Central State University in Edmond. She taught school and coached in several small schools before marrying Don Scott. Their son Jayme was born in 1945. They owned and operated the lumberyard in Duncan before moving to Ringling in 1953. She taught school for Ringling Public Schools until retiring in 1970.
Thelma was an avid OU Sooner and Ringling Blue Devil fan. She enjoyed travelling the United States having visited every state except Rhode Island. She Loved working outside always raking her yard and adored all of her grandchildren. She had been a member of the Ringling United Methodist Church since 1953.
Preceding her in death is her Husband, Don Nathanial Scott; Her Parents, J.P. and Evie Eubanks; Stepchildren, Helen Helderman, Geneva Grant, Doris Gregory and Vernon Scott; 3 Sisters, Grace Cox , Velma “Babe” and Audene Eubanks; 8 Brothers, Eli, Oral, Elton, J.D., Luther, James, Joseph “Paul, and Dewey Eubanks.
Survivors include her Son, Jayme Don Scott and wife Judy of Ringling; Two Grandchildren, Jay Don Scott of St. Louis , MO and JoDe Stewart and husband Joe Don of Ringling; Great Grandchildren, Megan, Jordan, and Jessica Scott, Devin Carley and Austin Phelps, and Colton and Cooper Stewart; 1 Great Great Grandson, Denver Phelps; Her Neighbors, Jean and Johnny Higdon who were considered part of her family; Numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Pallbearers are Allen Wade, Jimmy Snodgrass, Tommy Bryant, Dale Richardson, Terry Dale Morris, and Mike Gandy.
Honorary Bearers are the people of the Ringling Nutrition Center.
In lieu of flowers donations are to be made the Ringling United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Ringling Nutrition Center.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Wed. evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
