Mr. Glenn Alan Griffis, of Healdton, departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, OK at the age of 74 years. Cremation services are under the direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Healdton.
Glenn was born on April 29, 1949 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Mr. John William Penn Griffis and Mrs. Nellie Ethel (Phillips) Griffis – Schaufele.
He was primarily raised in Opa-Locka, FL, until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He would proudly serve his country in the Vietnam War. After serving nine years and receiving an honorable discharge he moved to Houston, TX where he worked as a Diesel Mechanic on heavy equipment. He and Debbie (Brown) Griffis were united in marriage on April 29, 1985. They would begin their family and stay in Houston most of their lives other than a short time in Live Oak, FL. Glenn and Debbie had moved to Healdton 15 years ago. Glenn enjoyed motorcycles especially Harley Davidsons. He and Debbie each had their own bike and would ride every weekend. He loved shooting darts and playing pool. When he was young he was a DeMolay with his father being in the Masonic Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; biological father, Ernest F. Marney; sisters, Cervera Sue Griffis and Haila Anne Wilson; and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Brown) Griffis of the home; daughters, Victoria “Vicky” Haygood and her husband Blake and their son, Clark Haygood of New Braunfels, TX; Dawn Davis of Covington, LA and her daughters, Taelor, Leilani, and Maya; and Stephanie Hanley and husband Alan and their son, Ian Hanley of Texas; sister, Carlene Patterson and husband John of Madison, IL.
