Ratliff City - Graveside services for Mr. Marion Charles Smart, 73, of Ardmore is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Ratliff City Cemetery with son Larry Smart officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Charlie was born to the late Mr. L.C. Willard Smart and Mrs. Francis "Maudine" (Jackson) Smart on December 26, 1947 in Duncan, OK. He departed this life on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home in Ardmore.
Charlie grew up in Fox and attended school there graduating with the Class of 1966. He voluntarily joined the United States Army in 1967 and served as a cook and driver of the 556 Howitzer Tank of the 1st Squadron 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, also known as Black Horse until his honorable discharge in 1969. He then returned home and married Ms. Barbara Ann Barnett on August 15, 1969 in Ardmore. Initially he worked at Beetle Plastics of Gene Autry before gaining employment with UPS. He was a day one driver for 30 years at Lone Grove. Charlie was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family having bonfires and skeet shooting.
Mr. Smart is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara (Barnett) Smart on November 9, 2014; brother, James Ray Smart; nieces, Dana (Smart) Hoggard and Tina Barnes.
He is survived by his son, Larry Smart and wife Kari of Ardmore; daughter, Amanda Hankins and husband John of Ardmore; sisters, Mary Ann Chambers and husband Jay of Enid, Pam Evans and husband C.D. of Marietta; brother, Dennis Smart and wife Suzanne of Oklahoma City; sister in law, Jimmie Faye Smart of Fox; grandchildren, Brenen Hankins and wife Becky, Breana Smith and husband Caleb, Jessica Hankins, Jarrett Hankins, Jace Smart, and Colton Smart; great grandchild, Cadence Smith and one on the way; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as casket bearers will be Brenen Hankins, Caleb Smith, Jace Smart, Jarrett Hankins, Colton Smart, Ray Smart and Austin Barnes.
Honorary casket bearers are Danny Kilcrease, Tra Milburn, and Stephen Hankins.
Visitation will be held 6 - 8:00 P.M. Friday, March 26, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cross Timbers Hospice 207 C St. NW Ardmore, OK 73401
