Billie Jo Tolbert

September 27, 1927 — February 13, 2015

Wilson - Billie Jo (Emy) Walker Tolbert passed from death to life on February 13, 2015 at age 87 in Amarillo Texas. Funeral services are scheduled at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Billie was born on September 27, 1927 to Virgele and Eula Walker in Wilson Oklahoma. Billie met and married her one and only love, Hershel Tolbert on January 22, 1944. The Lord gave them 62 years of wedded love and commitment.

They raised their family in Odessa, Texas where Hershel worked for Shell Oil Company. Billie was a homemaker but also worked as the attendance clerk at Bonham Middle School. She was a charter member of Bethany Christian Church in Odessa and served in many areas of the church including secretary for the deacon board. She and her husband were also long-time residents of Midland Texas prior to Hershel’s passing in 2006.

Billie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as family, food and a good movie. She was an avid reader, bridge player and excellent shopper.

She was preceded by her husband Hershel Tolbert and daughter Theresa Rogers.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia Everett and husband James, grandson Brian Everett and wife Jennifer, granddaughter Amy and her husband Matt, granddaughter Jess Rogers, five beautiful great grandchildren Allison Everett, Andrew Everett, Lily Everett, Beth Everett, and Cailin Page. She also leaves an older sister Oleta Marshall of Ringling Oklahoma and younger brother Gene Walker of El Paso Texas.

Billie moved to Amarillo Texas in 2006 and resided at Park Place Towers, Childers Place and Amarillo Center for Skilled Care. She was a good listener and enjoyed all the people who so lovingly cared for her.

Casket Bearers will be James Everett, Brian Everett, Andrew Everett, Matt Page, Carlos Johnson and Gene Walker.

Family visitation will be held at 11am Thursday prior to the funeral services at Alexander Funeral Home for friends and family.
